We’ve spent over forty years helping Nillumbik stay healthy
Our practices have been operating in the Nillumbik area for over 40 years. In both our general practice and our related arm of Aged Care, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical service to every one of our clients, whether a patient attending our centre or within the residential care system.
Our General Practitioners are a team of highly experienced and educated professionals, each with their own areas of interest and expertise, able to refer and consult amongst themselves to assist in providing the best possible care across a huge range of medical issues.
Our medical centres offer a working environment that encourages our staff to develop strong relationships with patients, helping us provide better health care to everyone who needs it.
Our staff regularly attends seminars and courses to keep their education and skills fully up to date and we have regular placements for both students of medicine and registrars.
No matter why you are visiting, or what life stage you are at, our team of GP’s broad range of experience and qualifications, will reassure you and find one who suits you and your family.
All doctors in this practice have satisfied the training requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and are on the Vocational Register of General Practitioners. This means we have a commitment to general practice and to continuing medical education.
The doctors will review phone messages relating to you or your family’s health at the completion of the current consulting session. In the event of an emergency, calls will be put straight through.
On some occasions, this practice may have to undertake urgent treatments, investigations or procedures for you. We will attempt to inform you of any additional costs upon request.
What we offer
We hope your first visit to our practice will lead to a relationship of many years where you develop a strong bond with your GP and the nursing and receptionist staff who care for you and your family.
Our practice serves the local community, keeping you healthy by appropriate medical treatment when needed and sharing advice on how to maintain good health and prevent illness whenever possible.
As a teaching practice we often host registrars and students, they’re fully supported by our experienced staff and are always full of enthusiasm and eagerness to excel at general practice.
Please phone 9430 8888 for appointment at Nillumbik Medical Centre or 8432 3333 for appointment at Research Medical Centre for an appointment.
Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time and GP. Emergencies will always be given priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there is any unforeseen delay or your GP has been called away. Longer consultation times are available, so please ask our receptionists if you require some extra time, for example when consulting for multiple problems or completing forms. Please let us know this when you book the appointment.
Appointments available Monday to Friday at a discounted rate. These are short appointments for one issue only such as repeat scripts and repeat referrals.
Home visits are available at the discretion of our GPs. Due to a high workload, this is not always available and for matters of medical urgency or illnesses that require hospital assessment or care, you may be asked to attend the local hospital. Please enquire regarding fees.
From time to time, this practice invites patients to complete a questionnaire on their views of the practice and suggested improvements.
These surveys are completely confidential and help us to maintain a high standard of service.
Patients will be asked to phone the practice 3 working days following the tests, between the hours of 2.00pm and 5.00 pm.
In the interests of best practice and privacy, and unless otherwise advised, you should book an appointment one week after any investigations/tests have been performed. It is your responsibility to book this follow up appointment to get your results.
Our practice is committed to preventative care. We will automatically include you on our reminder system. We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care. If you do not wish to be part of this system please let your doctor or receptionist know.
